Validation
We check your license and insurance. If something needs fixing, you have 48 hours to send it.

Eric confirms by call or text, then you pick up the car or it is delivered.

The rules, in plain words
These summarize the Florida Vehicle Rental Agreement you sign before pickup.
Cancellation
Cancel at least 72 hours before pickup for a full refund. Within 72 hours of pickup, one day's rental charge is forfeited. No-shows and early returns are non-refundable. If documents can't be validated, everything is refunded.
Deposit & payment
A reservation deposit is paid after you sign the agreement and is applied to your rental total. A separate refundable security deposit applies as set out in the agreement.
Pickup, return & delivery
SUNZiO pickup points have no delivery fee. Airport delivery and collection at SRQ, PIE and TPA is $100. Custom addresses (hotels, homes, vacation rentals) are quoted before you pay. See all pickup points.
Mileage
Each car's daily mileage allowance and excess-mile rate are stated in your agreement before you sign.
Fuel & charging
Return it at the level you received it. Refueling is $9.00 per gallon; EV recharge is $50 flat if below the pickup charge level.
Tolls & citations
Tolls, parking tickets and camera citations are billed at cost plus a $25 administrative fee per item.
Late returns
Without an approved extension, late returns are 1.5 times the daily rate per day or part of a day.
Smoking, pets & cleaning
No smoking or vaping (up to $350 remediation). Excessive cleaning for pets, sand, spills or stains is up to $250.
FAQ
Common questions
How old do I need to be to rent?
Renters must be 25 or older and hold a valid, unexpired driver's license.
Do I need my own insurance?
Yes. Your personal auto policy, or a qualifying rental policy you buy separately, is primary for a SUNZiO rental. SUNZiO does not sell insurance. You upload proof of coverage when you reserve, and SUNZiO confirms it with your carrier.
When do I pay?
Nothing is charged when you submit your request. After you upload your documents and sign the rental agreement, you pay the reservation deposit, which is applied to your rental total.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 72 hours before pickup for a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours of pickup forfeit one day's rental charge. No-shows and early returns are non-refundable. If SUNZiO can't verify your license, identity or insurance, everything you paid is refunded.
Where can I pick up the car, and is delivery free?
Pickup points in Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Clearwater Beach, Indian Shores, Treasure Island and St. Pete Beach have no delivery fee. Airport delivery and collection at SRQ, PIE or TPA is $100. For a hotel, home or vacation rental, choose Custom / Other and SUNZiO confirms the delivery fee before you pay.
Is there a mileage limit?
Each car's daily mileage allowance and excess-mile rate are written into your rental agreement before you sign.
What about fuel, charging and tolls?
Return the car with the same fuel or charge level it had at pickup, or refueling is billed at $9.00 per gallon (EV recharge $50 flat). Tolls and citations are billed at cost plus a $25 administrative fee per item.
Can I smoke or bring a pet?
No smoking or vaping in any vehicle (remediation up to $350). Ask before bringing a pet. Excessive cleaning for pet hair, sand or spills is up to $250.
What if I return the car late?
Without an approved extension, late returns are charged at 1.5 times the daily rate for each day or part of a day. If your plans change, text SUNZiO as early as possible to ask for an extension.
Can I rent a motorcycle?
Yes. The two Harley-Davidsons are booked through Riders Share, which provides the insurance and rider checks. A motorcycle endorsement is required. See the Motorcycles page for details and dates.
